(From Our Own Correspondent.) . . TINUI, April 29. Tha annual distribution of school prizes took place on the 26fch.inst. The function, which is always a popular one, WaS kept up till th& earlyjiours of the morning, and the ) irge crowd present thoroughly enjoyed the evening's entertainment The concert' part of the • programme under tfie conductorship of Mr Sutton/the head teacher, was carried out withqiit a hitch, the girls especially singing their parts well. They alao excelled in the club and pole *' exercises. A special word of praise , i 3 due to Mr Suttoh, and also to Mrs Sutton and v Miss Sutton who so ably \a?sjsted in coaching the children. The IRav. J. H. Sykefi, chairman of the School Committee, prior to distributing the prizes, referred to the good VT&rk that was being done by Mr Sutton. There tfad been already two scholarships won from this school, which must be gratifying 'to the ' tbachers, and the speaker was pleased to say that parents, committee and teacher were all working together in harmony. The following was the concert programme: School songs (1) "Drive the Nail Aright, Boys," (2) "Over the Snow; pianoforte exercise, "Huntsman's Chorus," Eliz. Johnston; club exrecises; recitation, ("The Spanish Armada," Senior scholars; pianoforte solo, "True Love Gavotte," Nora Speedy; songs, (1) "Beautiful Star,"(2) "If I were a Sunbeam"; recitation, "Creeping Jenny," Juniors; 'pole exercises; pianoforte solo, "Life Let us Cher- . ish," Ellen Groves; recitaion, "My Shadow," Lucy Perry and Eliz. Johnston; pianofore solo, "The Retreat March," Leish.Lungdon; Sir Roger de ;Coverley; dancing; school songs, (IV "Sleighing Song,". (2) Round—"Hark! The Distant Clock." The following is the prize list:— Class prizes. —Standard VII.: Leish- . man ■ Langdon and Tom Langdon. Standard VI.: Tom Hancock, Arthur Langdon and Doris Hancock. Standai'il IV.: Rewi Speedy, Nora Speedy and Lucy Perry. Standard 111. : Maud Speedy, and Maud Schofield. Standard II.: Elizabeth Johnstonjand Grace Chapman. Standard I.: Pratt , Hancock, Alfred Mclsaac and Ed- ' ' ward Mclsaac. Primer: Ralph Groves, Thos. Bovey, Gordon Speedy, Jas. Mclsaac, Muriel Hancock, Nora > Tuckett, Annie Schofield and Maggie I Johnston. Sewing prizes.—Standard . VI.: Ellen Groves 1, Rose Marsh 2. Standard IV.: Nora, Speedy. Standard III.: Maud Schofield. Standard II.*: Elizabth Johnstone. Mr J. A. Perry had a miraculous , escape frpm,a fatal accident last week. It appears 1 that Mr Perry was driving one of his milking cows witha young calf home, when without any Warning the cow charged him 1 and knocked him down. The cow commenced to horn him. Mr Perry's son, Who was dose by, ran to assist hig father, and eventually succeeded , in. driving the cow away. Mr Perry 'had- his clothes torn -.off, and was bruised.
