HOCKEY.
THE WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. A meeting of delegates to the Wairarapa Hockey .Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, last evening, Mr E. Daniel presiding. The following teams were affiliated :—Kia Kaha, United, Grey town, Carterton (2), W.F.C.A., and Knox. The Eketahuna Club was not affiliated owing to no information being received from them.
It was decided to open the season on May 9th, and the following fixtures were drawn up:— May 9th.—Carterton A v. Kia Kaha) at Carterton; United v. Knox, at Masterton; Carterton Bv. Greytown, at Greytown; W.F.C.A.. a bye. May 16th.—United v. Carterton B, at Masterton; Knox v. uveytown, at Masterton; Carterton A V. W.F.C.A , at Carterton; Kia Kaha, a bye. May 23rd.—W.F.C.A. v. United, at Masterton; Kia Kaha v. Knox, at Masterton; Carterton Av. Carterton B, at Carterton; Greytown, a bye. i May 30th.—Kia Kaha v. United, \at Masterton;, Carterton A v. Knox, at Masterton;' Greytown v. W.F.C.A. at Greytown; Carterton B, a bye. June 13th.—Carterton A v. Greytown, at Greytown; Carterton B v. Knox, at Carterton; W.F.C.A. v. Kia Kaha, at Masterton; United, a bye. June 20th.—W.F.C.A. v. Knox, at Masterton ;• Kia Kaha v. Carterton B, at Carterton; United v. Greytown, at Greytown; Carterton A, a bye. Juno 27th.— W.F.C.A. v. Carterton B, at Masterton; Lai'terlon A v. United, at Cartert)n; Kia Kaha v. Greytown, at Masterton; Knox, a bye. Mr S. A. Noble-Campbell waited on the meeting with reference to the formation of a Referees' Association. Mr Noble-Campbell suggested that such an Association should be formed, and an endeavour be made to amalgamate the referees of the Wairarapa Hockey Association' and Wairarapa Ladies* Hockey Association. It was decided to agree to Mr Campbell's suggestion. / It was resolved to make an effort to arrange for a representative team to visit Manawatu, Wanganui, Taranaki, and possibly Auckland during the season.
A match will be played at Lansdowne, on Thursday afternoon, between ,the Kia Kaha and Knox Clubs. Kia Kaha will be represented by the following:—-Truscott, Thynne, Gordon, Isaacs, Donald, Anderson, Nixon, Rue, Hughes, Williams, Atkins, Eagar, and McLean. Play will commence at 2.30 o'clock.
