By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 28. His Excellency the Governor returned to Wellington by the Moura from the South to-day. He will leave for Picton on Wednesday next, returning on Saturday, The diver who examined the steamer Inveran, which was ashore in Wellington Harbour, reports that the vessel is undamaged, not even a plate being dented. The Home of Our Lady of Compassion, recently erected at Bay, which is under the charge of the Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, was opened by Archbishop Redwood this afternoon. Speeches were delivered by the Archbishop, the Hon. W. Hall' Jones (Acting-Premier), Mr T. W. Hislop (Mayor of Wellington), Dr. McArthur, S.M., and others. The Home is designed to accommodate 150 incurable children of all denominations.
