RIFLE SHOOTING.

A fciatch was fired at the Opaki Rifle Range, bn Saturday, between teams representing the Opaki Rifle Clpb and a combined team consisting of members of the Te Wharau, Gladstone, and Whakataki-Tinui Rifle Clubs. The conditions " were seven Bhots each at the 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds ranges, and the result was a win for. Opaki by 81 points, the aggregate scores being 1,219 and 1,138. The combined team were one man short, but the deficiency was remedied by taking the average of the scores of the three highest scorers in their team and adding it to their total, Some Yery good ifig was witnessed, the two highest scorers for Opaki being W. Winslade 99' and A. J. Cameron 95, out of a possible 105. The former registered the possible score, at the 200 yds range. For the combined team E. S. Vennell shot well, registering 95 out of a possible 105. A very enjoyable day was spent on the range. Luncheon was provided by the ladies. After the match the visitors, were entertained at dinner at the Central Hotel. Captain. Welch propqsed the toast of the combined team, to which Mr E. Vennell responded, thanking the home team for their hospitality. The scores were as follow--
