PROPOSED TEAM FOR ENG- . LAND. By / Telegraph—Press Association. WANGANUI, April 26. Advices received here from England by last mail, state that the Northern Rugby Union Clubs have deceived a communication suggesting that New Zealand should send a team Home next year to play the clubs under the Northern Union's jurisdiction. The leading clubs have been asked what support can be promised. The London Daily [Telegraph, commenting, states that replies have not yet been sent, but the leading clubs favour the project, and it is regarded as certain that a "New Zealand team will visit England next season. WELLINGTON, April 26. With reference to a telegram from Wanganui that a team of New Zealand Rugby footballers is likely to
visit England next season to compete against the Unton Rugby Clubs there, Mr E. Wylie, Secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union states: "I have had no official communication from the Northern Unions on the subject of visiting them. As w«5 subscribe to the English Rugby Union (strictly amateur) it is impossible for any New Zealand players to play against the Northern i Union men without coming under the ban of our professionalism laws, which wpuld mean life disqualification. Any tour arranged must be purely on professional lines, and would not, I feel sure, ha\e the sanction ofthoKcw Zealand Union." He adds that no doubt if a team goes Home it will be a private venture or speculation. (It is understood that a movement 13 on foot in Wellington to send a professional team to England, and the above telegram probably refers to this fact.)
