NEW NAVY SCHEME. Received April 26, 5.15 a.m. . MADRID, April 25. Spain has decided to have built, by a British firm establishing itself at Ferrol, three battleships of the Lord Nelson type. Spain has also decided to build three battleships of the Lord Nelson type, six fast cruisers, and twelve destroyers in British shipyards.
RUMOURED ANGLO-SPANISH ENTENTE. Received Api'il 26, 8.32 a.m. MADRID. April 25. The newspaper Espana states that the naval orders placed with Britain I will result in a new entente. Received April 26, 11.26 p.m. LONDON, April 26. The statement of the Correspondencia Espan, that Great Britain and Spain has concluded a naval alliance, is officially contradicted. The Westminster Gazette authoritatively denies the report that Great Britain is assisting Spain financially to enable her to augment her fleet and reorganise her arsenals.
