TURF NOTES. (By Zetland.) , MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING. | The Manawatu ■ Racing Club's j autumn meeting will open, to-day, at Awapuni. Fair-sized fields will be seen out in five of the eight events, and the racing should be interesting throughout. A great amount of in terest is being taken in the Manawatu Stakes and the Manawatu Champion ' Hack Plate. In these events several of the contestants have been penalised for recent whi3, and close finishes should result. The following may run the most forward in their respectlveVvents:— Telegraph Stakes.—Lady Annie and Golden Gate. Karere Welter. Climax and Scenery. Manawatu Stakes. Glenculloch and Count Witte. Longburn Handicap.—Clanchattan and Flamen. Hack Hurdles. Bonheur and Dallcey. Hokowhitu Hurdles.—Gold Seal and Lull. Champion Hack Plate.—Moscow and Swimming Belt. Taikuroa Welter.—De Witte and Montigo. MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., April 23. Heavy rain fell to-day, and the going at Awapuni promises to be holding to-morrow. Of the acceptors Saaman and Fontenoy will be absentees, while Volume is an unlikely scarter to-morrow. The following are anticipated to start in watu Stakes:—Achilles, Helen Portland, Glenculloch, Kairoma, Count Witte, Elevation, Gold Crest and Monardo. Aberration appeared as an acceptor in the Longburn Handicap in error. He should have been in the Taikorea Welter Handicap. His weight is Bst 31b.
