CHRISTCHURCH, April 23,
An inquest opened, to-night, touching the death of the young man, named Alfred Hellyer, who was arrested for child murder, on Sunday, and who afterwards committed suicide by taking poison in the police cells yesterday. The house surgeon at the hospital stated that death was due either to prussic acid or opium, the latter being the more probable. The enquiry was then adjourned till Friday afternoon. v
