STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their horse sale on Saturday, when considerably over 100 horses were submitted. The special line of unbroken carriage horses from Akitio Station attracted buyers from all parts of the district, and although all were not sold, good prices were realised for those which were disposed of. A large number of draughts came forward, and in moat instances found purchasers. There was not much demand for ordinary hacks and harness classes, and the majority were passed in. Akitio 3 and 4-year unbroken carriage horses reached from £ll 10s to £24, unbroken 3-year draughts to £37 ss, broken-in draughts £l7 15s to £23 15s, aged draughts from £6, harness horses to £2l) ss, hacks and harness horses £2 to £ls. Mr W. Rose reports as follows : During the last fortnight I have held the following sales:— Monday, April Bth, Norsewood stock sale: Owing to the bad stats of tha weather the advertised lines of sheep were unable to get to the yards. There was a fair entry of cattle, but bidding under the hammer was not at all spirited, but after the sale I made a total clearance of the yards, quitting every line at the following prices:—Bullocks £4 17s fid, fat cows £3 15s to £4 15s, emptj forward cows £2 18s, 18-month steers £2 ss, store cows 30s, weaners 10s to 12s. Thursday, April 9th, Weber stock sale: I only had a line of lambs come forward, but they caused keen competition, and were eventually sold at 12s. Thursday, April 11th, Takapau stock sale: Again 1 had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, and there being a good attendance, practically every line sold readily under the hammer at the following prices: Sheep: Fat and forward ewes 12s to 12s (3d, 4-tooth fcof.m, ewes lis Id to 12s, lambs small 5s 7d to 7s Id, old ewes 6s 6d. | Cattle: Fat heifers £4 7s 6d, bul-) locks £5, cows in calf .£3 ss, fat cows £4 10s, 2 to 2J-year-old heifers £2 12s 6d. Saturday, April 13th, Dunnevirke horse sale: Contrary to expectations, owing to another horse sale being held on the same date, I am pleased to report one of the best horse sales that have taken place this year. The -yards were well filled with good sorts, the sale was well attended, and from the fall of the flag bidding was very spirited. On behalf of the Weber County Council, I disposed of their draught team at prices ranging from £34 10s up to £sl. On account of other vendors draught? realised £24 to £42, hacks and light harness horses from £lO to £2l. I also disposed of Mr Gaisford's thoroughbred colts and fillies at prices rather in favour of buyers. Friday, April 19th, Danrievirke stock sale- I had a full yarding of shrep, and a moderate one of cattle. was good, and bidding for sheep was good right through.
