KNOX CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL.

ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL,

The anniversary social of the Knox Church Sunday School was held, last evening, in the schoolroom, when there was a large attendance of adults and children. Rev. A. T. Thompson occupied the chair. The annual report showed that there were 155 children on the roll with an average attendance of 110 — an increase on previous years. The infant class, which was under the charge of Miss McGregor, had a membership of 60, with an -average attendance of 39. The balance-sheet showed that the general account had a profit of £6 8s 9d. The mission fund account showed a credit balance of £2 3s Bd, and the anniversary social account a credit of £2 lis Id. The balancesheet in connection with the Young Ladies' Class showed a credit balance of £2 2s lOd. Brief addresses were given by the chairman, Mr R. J. Young, superintendent of the Sunday School, and Mr J. McGregor, jnr. Each of the speakers congratulated the school on its present position. They reviewed the past year's work, and .made reference to the programme for the future. The following musical programme was rendered: Anthem, Mrs Green's class; piano solo, Miss M. McKenzie; recitation, "The Ship on Fire," Mary Campbell; song, Mr Gray; recitation, "Three Little Tents," Edith Leigh; recitation, "Home is Where Love Abides," Mr R. Chappell; song, Mrs Wilkins; recitation, "The Silver Plate," Dorothy Cork; song, Mr M. Gordon; recitation, "Who's Afraid in the Dark." M. Chappell; reading, "The New Homestead," Miss E. Williams, 8.A.; song, Mr C. Ibbetson; recitation, "The Tempest," Aggie McCormick; violin solo, Master Alex. McKenzie; recitation, "The Best Day," N. Chappell; piano solo, C. McKenzie; recitation, Miss J. McGregor. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and the gathering concluded with votes of thanks to the superintendent and teachers' class.
