BRITAIN AND ITALY.

MEETING OF THE KINGS. GERMAN PRESS RUFFLED. Received April 19, 8.52 a.m. ROME, April 18. The meeting of King Edward and King Victor-Emmanuel at Gaeta (a fortified seaport of Campania, Italy), was most cordial. King Victor-Emmanuel boarded the Royal yacht Victoria arid Albert, and the two monarchs embraced repeatedly. Received April 19, 8.52 a.m. LONDON, April 18. The meeting of King Edward and King Victor-Emmanuel is causing an explosion in the German press. The official view in Berlin is that the meeting need not arouse uneasiness, since Italy realises that her independence is better safeguarded in the Triple Alliance than it would be if she relied wholly upon the support of Britain and France.
