BRITAIN STILL AHEAD.
(From Our London Correspondent.) LONDON, February 23. A Board of Trade return issued on February 20th, id interesting as showing the commercial progress of • other nations as compared with Great Britain. The figures relate to the imports and exports of 1906, and though they are subject to rectification in several cases they show on the whole that Britain's extraordinary trade development last year was unrivalled. In the tables, the imports in all cases except that of the United States are intended to represent goods for home consumption only —that is,excluding re-exports—while in all cases the exports refer to articles of domestic consumption. The Belgium returns relate only to principal articles.
