FOOTBALL.
There is to hand from Mr W. G. Garrard, the popular secretary of the Canterbury Rugby Union, the "Canterbury Annual" for 1307. The Annual, which is edited by Mr Garrard, is an exceptionally interesting publication and reflects great credit on the editor. The following team will represent Red Star against Carterton, at Carterton, on Saturday next: —Full-back, McLachlan; three-quarters, Darvill, Ladner and Wrigley; five-eighth, Dorsett; half, Walker; forwards, Norman, Golder, Collett, Scorrar, Langley, Wickens, Riley, Corbett, and Fulton. A drag will leave White's at 1.30 o'clock. Any of the above players who are unable to make the trip are requested to notify the Secretary or Captain as soon as possible. The following will represent Carterton:—Mason, Thompson, Crawley, Killop, Groube (2), Wadham, Johnson (2). Mason, Henderson, Hall (2), Cadwallader, McKenzie, Blake, and Gustofsen.
WAIRARAPA THURSDAY RUGBY UNION. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Thursday Rugby Union was held at Carterton last evening. Mr J. Henderson occupied the chair, and there were also present—Messrs A. C. Holms and S. Smith (Liberals), V. Fairbrother, W. Levick and N. McKenzie (Rovers), W. Logan and B. Keith (Albion). An apology for absence was received from the President, Mr A. C. Major/ The annual report' and balancesheet were adopted. The latter showed that the receipts for the past year had been £3l lis lOd, and the expenditure £3l 4s sd. leaving a cr. balance of 6s sd. The liabilities were set down at £5 2s. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows Patron, Mr W, C. Buchanan; President, Mr A. C. Major; Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. McCarthy, J. B. Bairstow, J. Cress, F. C. Turnor, H. McManaway; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. Wallis, Carterton; Management Committee, Messrs Clarke, F. O'Connor, A. C. Holms, N. McKenzie, J. Edwards, J. Henderson, B. Keith, V. Fairbrother, W. Logan, and J. Wickens. junr; Senior Selection Committee, Messrs E. McKenzie, J. O'Leary, and J. Henderson; Junior Selection Commitee, Messrs P. O'Leary, C. H. Taylor and J. Edwards; Auditors, Messrs 11. Hall and 11. Hart; Delegates to the Wairarapa Rugby Union, Messrs J. Wallis and V. Fairbrother. ThejSenior Selection Committee were also appointed a Classification Committee. It was decided that no transfers should be granted after the second round had been played. The following teams were nominated for the various competitions:— Seniors—Liberal, Albion, Rover (two teams), Kia Toa. Junior -Liberal, Rover, Albion, Y.M.C.A. It was resolved to commence the Cup fixtures for both senior and junior teams on May 9th. It was resolved to draw up the fixtures for the season on Thursday next. The members referred in eulogistic terms to the manner in which Mr F. O'Connor had carried out the duties of Secretary during the past year. Special reference was made to the excellent manner in'which he had carried out the arrangements for representative matches. A vote of thanks was Recorded to Mr O'Connor.
