At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council, to-night, a letter was received from the Auckland Association suggesting that, as Auckland had been unable to play in any interprovincial matches , the Plunket Shield for last season 1 should be awarded to thq Association which the M.C.C. team should adjudge to be the best entitled to hold it in respect of their play|againat the Englishmen. Itfwas'resolved to postpone ation of the letter until a question relating to the use of proxies when the allocation of the Shield was being considered had been settled. A motion was proposed that New Zealand representative players should possess a residential qualification, but after ajshorfdiscussion was withdrawn.
