A STORY OF LOVE AND MYSTERY. Lady in Black. By FLORENCE WARDEN, Author of'"An Infamous Fraud," "A Terrible Family," "For Love of Jack," "The House on the Marsh," etc. A veil of mystery surrounds "The Lady in Bla,ck" She is young, amiable and attractive, evidently favoured with an abundance of means, for her stylish horses and carriages are the talk of the neighbourhood wherein she, an utter stranger, has unexpectedly established herself. Presumably a widow, her love of display causes much gossip; her neighbours have varying opinions of her character, and discuss whether she is a person to be shunned or honoured. A life-like love story is effectively entwined with the more important events of the work, and the result is a romance of entrancing and progressive interest until the denouement. The opening instalment of "The Lady in Black," will appear in the Wairarapa Age on Thursday morning next.
