STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Mitchell and Griffith report a very a satisfactory opening for their quarterly horse sale at Pahiatua. The number catalogued were 81 head, consisting of draughts, van, carriage and hacks, and the sales effected both under the hammer and privately were satisfactory. The general verdict was that the sale; was a decided success, and the lines offered were a good sort. The bidding, especially in draughts, was very spirited, and prices realised as follows:—Draughts from £45 to £BB 10s, van from £l2 to £l4 ss,'fhacks ,£l2 to £6 10s, ponies £5 to £2 10s, pair of carriage horses £25. The next sale will be held about the middle of July.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as followsAt Eketahuna, yesterday, we had a capital yarding of Doth sheep and cattle which met a ready sale. All the sheep with the exception of a couple of lines of ewes, were disposed of under the hammer at prices in excess of vendors' anticipations. Lambs were in good demand, and cattle, with the exception of one pen of heifers, all changed {hands at auction at very satisfactory prices. Several buyers from outside districts were present, and business under [the hammer was satisfactory throughout the sale. We quote:—Cattle Three year old steers £4 5s to £4 15s, two year old steers £2 13s 6d to £3. eighteen months steers £2 3s to £2 10s and up to £2 15s for an extra good lot, yearling steers 86s, forward heifers £2 19s, fat cows £4 to £4 6s, forward cows £2 13s, store cows 265, yearling heifers 26s to 30s, wean?rs 15s. Sheep—Sound mouth ewes]l2s lOd to 13s 6d, six tooth to sound mouth ewes 10s Id, lambs 10s 6d, lis 2d and lis sd, aged rams 10s down to 4s 3d.
