WEDDING.

hand-newton—orbell. A quiet but pretty wedding; .took place at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, on Wednesday,, April 3rd, at 11 a.m., when Miss Eleanor Beatrice Orbell, daughter of the late Mr Frank u Orbell, of Dunedin, was united in \ matrimony to William Gordon Hand.Newton, eldest son of Mrs HandNewton, of Christchurch, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Cecil A. B. Watson. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Frank E. Orbell, of New Plymouth, waa charmingly attired in a robe of duchess. satin, with a veil crowned with a coronet of orange Blossoms, and carried a lovely ; "\shower Douquet, the gift of the bridegroom. She was attended by two bridesmaids, her sister Miss Flossie Orbell, who wore a dainty frock of white taffeta ailk, white hat with plumes, and a bouquet of pink roses and maiden-hair, and her little neice., Miss Winifred Hubbard, who wore a frock of cream crepe de chene, pretty pale blue bonnet and sash, and carried a basket of flowers. Mr C. F. Jackson, of Wanganui, attended as best man. The bridegroom, who is a nephew of the late Sir Charles Hand-Newton, was for some time in the office of Mr F. W. Wake, solicitor, Stratford, and Jhas many friends in the district. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a handsome gold watch and chain, and to the bridesmaids gold bangles- The bride's gift to the bridegroom was & handsome gold initial ring. As the bridal party left the church, the "Wedding March" was played by the Organist, Mr Kernahan. Miss Winifred Hubbard scattered rose petals in the path of the bridal pair. At the conclusion of the ceremony the guests were driven to the residence of the bride's mother, where the reception was held. Amongst the guests were Mr and Mrs David Crewe, of Pahiatua, Mr and Mrs S. J. Gordon, of Wanganui, Mrs F. Hubbard, of Palmerston North, and Mr and Mrs Stanley Orbell, of Inglewood. The presents were quaint and artistic. Mr and Mrs Hand-Newton left by the afternoon train for the South.
