RIFLE SHOOTING.

* MASTEKTON RIFLES v. POST AND TELEGRAPH RIFLES. The annual shooting match between the Masterton Rifle Volunteers and the Post and Telegraph Rifles (Wellington) took place at the Opaki range, on Monday, in ideal weather. Seven shots each were tired., at the 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds ranges, and the result was a win for Masterton by 12 points. Bugler Harding, of the Masterton Volunteers, who gives promise of becoming a prominent marksman, put' up the creditable score of 34 at the 600 yds range. The match was only completed when the heavy rain fell, and the ladies' match, which was to have been fired, had to be abandoned. The ladies provided afternoon tea. Following are the scores:— MASTERTON VOLUNTEERS. Lieutenant Brighting ... 95 Bugler Harding ... 93 Hon. Member Azale ... 86 Sergeant Ayson •■• 77 Private Wintringham ... 75 Lieutenant Morton ... 71 Total ... 497 POST AND TELEGRAPH RIFLES. Private Williamson ... 94 Private Jones ... 88 Corporal Gilbert .... 85 Private Cockerill ... 75 Corporal Eagle ... 72 Private Hamilton ... 71 Total ... 485 Several members of the Opaki Rifle Club visited Fernridge, on Monday, and spent an enjoyable day on the local club's range. A match was fired between teams picked by Captain Welch, of Opaki, and Captain McGregor, of Fairview, and resulted in a win for the former team by 51 points. Lunch was provided by the lady friends of the Fairview Club. The scores were as follow: —
