The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows: —At our Masterton . stock sale, on Wednesday, we had a good average yarding in sheep, no wathers offering. All pood sound ewes were eagerly competed f'-.r, the aged and faulty sorts being hard to quit, all, however, changing hands. " All lambs penned sold freely, with an unsatisfied demand. A few rams were submitted, but being late in the season they did not reach high figures. We yarded a fair number of cattle, which included good steers, forward cows and strong young cattle. The tone of the market for tais stock was better, and good sales * were made. At Ballance, on Wednesday, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr Quillinan. His dairy * hard of 35 cows all sold under the hammer, but the season being prac- ' tically over rates were low. Cows and heifers sold from £6 down to £llos. At Tauherenikau, on Thursday, we yarded some 2,000 sheep, a fair number of cattle and horses. „ The weather conditions being very ■unfavourable, the sale was slow, only a sm'all proportion of the entries changing hands, although rates for thejines sold were on a pqr with sales elsewhere.
