WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report a* follows regarding Thursday's Sile:—We held our usual fnrtnigtly sale, to-day, offering 20 bales wool, 1,250 skins, 400 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: We qaote—Halfbred 10£ d to lid, coarse crossbred 9d to 9|d, merino 9d to lOd, rough and inferior bd to 9d, pieces and bellies 6d to 7|d, locks 3d to sd. Skins: Market was rather easier owing to Easter holidays. We quote: — Merinos 7£d to B£d, fine crossbreds 9d to 9Jd, coarse crossbreds Bfd to 9|d, dead skins 6£d to Bd, dead hoggets 6gd to , 7gd, dry pelts s£d to 7<l, lamb skins 8d to green lamb skins 4s 3d to 4s lOd, green pelts 4s to 5s 3d, lamb pelts Is 6d to 2s sd. Tallow: Very active demand. Parcels in shipping order ,<£2B, tins £l7 to £22, rough fat £ls. Horsehair: Is to Is 3d. Horns: 8s to 22s 9d per 100. Hides: Prices were very firm. We quote—Ox hides (extra heavy) 7d to 7gd, ox hides (701b and over) 6|d to 7|d, <ox hides <solb to 701b) 6Jd to 6fd, cow hides s|d to 6£d, calf skins (best) €d to 7Jd, calf skins (slippy) 3d to 4d, calf skins (cut) 5d to 5Jd, cut and slippy hides 5d to 6d, stag hides 4d to sd, bull hides 3sd to 41 d. ~ The next sale will be held on Friday, April, 12th, 1907. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report having held their usual fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow on Thursday afternoon. There was a smaller attendance' of buyers than usual, owing, r.o doubt, to the close proximity of the Easter holidays. Prices all round were firm at last sale rates, everything being bought at fair prices. Tney offered a good catalogue, some nice lines of hides being shown, but the dull and wet weather brought them back in condition. They quote as follows Wool: Medium crossbred 9£d to 9|d, inferior crossbred 9d to 9£d, lambs (medium 9d to 9Jd, dingy 7Jd to 7|d, crutchings sfd to 6Jd, pieces 6£d, locks 3Jd. Skins: Cross bred (shorts) B|dto 9d, crossbred (damp), 3s 7d to 4s 4d each, lambs 9d to 9£d, green lambs 3s 2d to 4s 4d, crossbred (dead and broken) 6|d to 6|d, pelts 7sd to 7fd, sa-ted 3s 3d to 3s 6d each: Hides: Heavy ox (731b) 7dperlb, medium ox (521b to 621b) 6£d to 6ld; light ox (401b to 491b) s|d to 6fjd, cows, heavy (451b to 511b) 6|d to 6£d, medium (371b to 441b) 6Jd to 6§d, calf €&d to 6|d. Tallow: In tins 18s to 21s 6d per cwt. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At our fortnightly sale held on Thursday we offered a fair quantity of wool, skins, hides and tallow. There "was very good competition for all lots. The wool comprised small lots of stragglers' fleece, crutchings and lambs. We quote: — crossbred fleece (coarse and rough) 7|d to lOd, crutchings 5d to 6Jd, lambs (inferior and seedy) 6Jd to 7|d, pieces 5d to 6|d, locks 4d to 4£d. Sheepskins: crossbred pelts from 7fd to B|d, inferior and broken pelts 4Jd to 7d, full'woolled crossbred B|d to lambs 9d to 9Jd, dead skins 7sd to BJd per lb, green skins 3s 9d to 4s 7d, lambs 3s 6d to 5s 5d each. Hides: were in good request, and sold at the following prices:—Ox from 6|d to 6gd, cow 6d to 6£d, slippy and cut 4d to 's|d, calf, (sound) 7d to 7Jd, calf (cut and damaged) 2d to s£d per lb. Tallow: In casks, good mixed from :26s 9d to 27s 6d, medium 23s to 255, inferior 22s per cwt.
