A man, named Jas. W. Garvey, aged 53, formerly a miner, died on Wednesday, at Waiotahi Cre'ek. He was believed to be in poor circumstances, but the police on searching his premises discovered that he possessed considerable means. The decased had lived a somewhat lonely life, and kept the fact that he possessed means a close secret. It is now ascertained that he had £1,250 oh fixed deposit, and also money in the Savings Bank totalling in all £1,600.
