STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantiel Agency Company, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua stock sale, on Tuesday, as follows:—We had a good average yarding in sheep of all classes except wethers. For all sound ewes and strong lambs we had spirited* bidding, with the result that we effected a clearance at rates in advance of recent sales. Cattle were well represented, including grown bullocks and useful young cattle, all of which found a ready market with an upward tendency, female sSock only being difficult to quit. at the close of the I sale Wily one line remained unsold. A of rams were offered, but, chiefly culls, many failed to sell. In ewes 2-tooth ran up to 16s, average sound' ewes 12s to 12s Bd, aged 8s to 10s, iambs 10s, young Itomney rams 2gns to 2Jg»s, young JLincolns 1 Jgn to 2|gns, aged rams Ign to ljgn, grown bullocks £5 15s, 3 year good steers £4 to £4 15s, 2 year stees 60s, 18 months steers 48s, 2 year heifers. 355, yearlings 235, store cows 20s to 40s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at the Waipoua yards, on Wednesday,' when about 4,500 sheep and 150 head of cattle were submitted. In the major-
ity of cases the quality of sheep was good, and though a number of lines passed in, tho majority were , "IKared subsequently. There was a •Jatetter demand for cattle, and with " two exceptions all were cleared, though prices are still in favour of buyers. A line of 500 good 4, 6 and f.m. ewes sold at 16s 4d, good 2tooth ewes 16s 4d, others 13s lOd to 14s, 6-tooth ewes 15s Id, 2-tooth wethers (530 in line) 15s, good shorn lambs lis Id, 2-tooth to s.m. ewes 10s 9d to 12s 9d, culls 7s to 103, 2-tooth Shropshire rams IJgn, 6toothfgn to lgn, 4-tooth to'f.m. Southdowns lgn, 3-year steers 60s to 62s 6d, faj; cows 70s to 955, heifers in « If 475, 18-month steers 355, cows d calves 51s, yearlings 225. "" 'Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua stock ' sale held on Tuesday, as follows : Sheep came forward in excess ofadvertised numbers, 5,550 being yarded, which met a spirited sale, competition being keen from the commencement, and well sustained throughout, and an almost complete clearance being made under the ham- ' mer at prices fully up to rates ruling this mouth. The quality on the whole was good, several useful lines of breeding ewes being submitted. Mr W. E. C. Tylee, of Makuri, obtained 19s for his 4-tooth -£wes, 18s for his 6-tooths, and 15s 9d for his 4-year-old ewes. the entry of cattle was confined to a few small pens, all of which changed hands with the exception of a couple of pens. Quotations:— Sheep: Twotooth wethers 15s 3d to 16s Id, and 16s 6d for an extra good lot, 2-tooth ewes 14s lid to 15s 2d, 12s 4d to 12s 8d for smaller lots, 4-tooth ewes up to, 19s and 6-tooth ewes 18s, good sound breeding ewes 15s Id to 15s 9d, othersllssd to 13s 6dand clown to 103, low-conditioned ewes with failing mouths 7s 6d to 10s Id, good lambs 9s to 10s 8d and up to lis for a spekqfccial lot, others 8s 6d to 8s lOd, culls Cattle: Three-year-old steers gfih 10s, 2-year-old steers £2 to £2 "■""4s, 18-month steers £2 7s, 2-year-old heifers 235, weaners and yearlings 16s, store cows 22s 6d to 325.
