MASTERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the Masterton Football Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening. Mr A. Henderson presided, and there were about 20 members present. Apologies for absence were received from the Rev. Dean McKenna and Mr W. P. James. The report and balance-sheet'were read, the latter showing receipts to amount to £ls 2s Gd, and expenditure £lO 5s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £4 17s. There was a balance of assets over liabilities of £9 12s. It was decided to delete the following from the annual report:—"And were only prevented from securing possession of that trophy through the action of the winners in playing three ineligible men, being ultimately confirmed by the Union. Your _ Committee enters a most emphatic protest against this and similar unsatisfactory methods of dealing with junior matters by the Wairarapa Union."

Mr R. W. Spackman forwarded his resignation. It was decided to ask him to reconsider the matter. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr E. M. D. Whatman; President, Mr W. P. James; Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. G. Eliott, A. Henderson and W. G. Lamb; Hon. Auditor, Mr W. C. Perry; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr D. E. Parton; Management Committee, Messrs D. K. Logan, J. Lyall, J: O'Leary and J. Duggan; Match Committee, Messrs J. O'Leary, D. K. Logan and P. O'Leary; Delegates to W.R.F: Union, Messrs A. B. Charters, J. W. Cochrane and D. K. Logan.. Messrs A. W. Renall and L. J., Williams were elected life members of the Club.

A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. It was decided that, as the Gymnasium would not be available this season, the secretary endeavour to secure 'the Boxing Hall for the season, for Wednesday nights if possible. A letter was received from the Athletic Club (Wellington) enquiring if the Masterton Club could play a match against them this season, and it was decided to try and arrange a ; match later in the season.

Messrs A. Henderson and J. W. Cochrane stated that it was their intention to each donate a gold medal for competition this Reason. Votes of thanks were passed to the donors. Twenty new members were elected.
