ANTI-ASIATIC.

(To the Editor). Sir, —I have noticed a lot of those dirty anti-Chow letters in the local press lately, and I think it is a crying shame to annoy those civil and well-behaved Chows. Why should we pay sixpence for washing our dirty shirts when we can get them washed by a civil industrious Chow for threepence. The haughty laundresses do not pay high rents and provide for a family and keep them clean and respectable like the Chow. Of course, there are great possibilities in store for New Zealand. Our railways are run altogether wrong. We should employ all Chows on our railways, because we have not got to pay the interest on our borrowed millions — the Chow pays all our taxes. There should be no necessity for farmers here, and we don't want them and their families here. We don't want oats, wheat or mutton; we should live on rice and sleep on bags; our engine-drivers should not get ten or twelve shillings per day, they would look after their engines and the lives of the passengers entrusted to their care better if they were only getting 5s per day, and we should on no account tolerate this high rate of wages, but we should give all the work to the Chow, and provide him with plenty of money to send to China to make crackers to one day blow us all off the face of tile civilized map. The utter ridiculousness of paying our clergy thousands of pounds per year when we can get the Chow to do our pulpit work much cheaper, | is quite apparent. We should kick all I the* bishops out without ceremony or compunction, and run the Christianity of this country on Pagan lines; then we could use a Chow organ, made by Chow sweaters, and set to the strains of Chow-Paganism. Now, Mr Editor, don't you think it would be a good idea to start a Chow newspaper in Masterton, run on Chow lines, by a Chow staff. Here is a splendid opening for your intelligent brain. Of course, you would have to be furnished with plenty of Chow advertisements ; you would have to sign your correspondent's letters with fictitious names, arid remember to use only names of persons that are not known in the district wherein the correspondence emanates; you could write their letters to your own Chow paper, but whatever you do be careful not to sign your correct name. If you thought there was the least chance of being discovered attaching false signatures to letters you could easily say that you were only, writing for pastime, and you never. meant what you said. If you did this the people would forgive you at once without any apology. This, I think, is a very fascinating and patriotic programme, and I commend it to your careful consideration. I don't require it at present, and you are welcome to it free of charge.— I am, etc.,

JOHN CAMERON. Anti-Asiatic League, Masterton March 27th, 1907.
