SPEED OF MOTOR-CARS.

_—* MATTER BEFORE THE BOROUGH COUNCIL. The question of regulating the speed at which motor-cars may travel within the Borough was before the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last evening. Cr Temple considered that the time had arrived when the Council should take some action in the matter. The excessive speed at which motor-cars were driven, he said, was particularly noticeable on the days on which the Masterton Racing Club held their last meeting. He declared that he saw motor-cars travelling in Queen Street at the rate of twenty miles an hour on those days. Cr Ewington said he was very glad Cr Temple had brought the question up, for it was necessary that something should be done. The By-laws Committee were instructed to frame a by-law dealing with the matter.
