MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTEE. At the ordinary meeting of the Masterton Borough "Works Commit•tee, last evening, there were present —Crs E. McEwen (chairman), J. Elliott, F. W. Temple, W. Morris, E. G. Eton, and J. C. Ewington. The Engineer was instructed to attend to repairs at the gates at the abattoir.
Mr T. Clancy attended the meeting, and asked the Council for a temporary lease of the stables in Dixon Street, formerly owned by Mr J. Blinkhorne, pending the erection of -the new Empire' stables. The application was granted, provided the stables were kept in a sanitary condition.
An application by Mr C. Whitt for assistance towards the cost of erecting a picket fence fronting his property in. Michael-Dixon Street was referred to a committee consisting of Crs Ewington, Morris and Pauling. It was decided to extend the water-mains along South Road to Mr J. Montgomery's residence, provided the latter pays a rate of £3 10s per annum.
With regard to Mr A. Fraser's offer to sell to the Council two engine trucks, it was decided to reply that the Council did not require the use of such trucks.
Accounts amounting to £7ll 14s Id were passed for payment.
