THE RIFLE CHAMPION.

By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 25. Rifleman A. 8. Ballinger, of the Petone Rifle Club, who won the chamnionship of the colony at the recent rifle meeting at Trentham, was entertained at the Lower Hutt, to-night, by the residents of Petone and the Hutt in honour of his winning the championship for the third time. Having won-the belt thrice it becomes the property of Mr Ballinger; but he has generously presented the trophy to the Defence Forces Rifle Association for competition at future gatherings, and it will, as heretofore, go with the championship.
