MASTERTON GOLF CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Masterton Golf Club was held yesterday afternoon. Mr H. H. Holmes occupied the chair, and there were about sixteen present. The annual report, after making reference to the satisfactory state of the Club's affairs, stated, inter alia:—The membership of the Club now stands at 127, an increase of 13 on the previous year. During the season six interclub matches were played, of which our representatives won five and lost one. The usual competitions were held during the season. Lawrence holds the "Record Challenge Shield" for another season with a score of 82. The thanks of the Chib are due to Miss J. Robieson for the way she looked after the tea arrangements, and to Mr H. G. Williams for the use of a horse; also to Mr A. B. Lawrence for presenting a trophy for competition. Owing to the exceptionally wet state of the links .during the season the question of finding more suitable ground for links was discussed, but after inspecting various sites it was decided to continue on the present links, your Committee considering that a good dry course could be laid out by cutting out the last four holes :nd replacng them by others on the iugher portion of the links.
