FORTY-MILE BUSH ATHLETIC SOCIETY.
ANNUAL SPURTS MEETING. (Special Reporter). Ideal weather prevailed for the annual sports meeting of the FortyMile Bush Athletic Society, which was held .at Hamua, yesterday. There was a large attendance, and some good performers being present, several interesting contests were witnessed. The Masterton contingent annexed most of the events on the programme, and secured all prizes in the Bush Handicap. W. White won the Maiden Race. V. M. Richards won the Handicap with seven points, N. H. M«Ewen being second with six points, and J. O'Brien third with four points. M. O'Hagan won the Throwing the Hammer and Wrestling, T. D. Charnerlain tied for first place in the High Jump, and J. R. Dunn won the Consolation Race. A protest was lodged against the judges' decision in the Underhand Chop Handicap, and will be decided as soon as possible. The energetic secretary, Mr P. P. Walkley, and an able committee had all arrangements complete for the meeting, and much of its success was due to their efforts. Following are the results: — Maiden Race, 130yds.—W. White 1, H.
