{From our own Correspondent). During the past week the weather lias been all that the farmers could desire. Nice warm rains have proved beneficial to the grass, and there will • be good feed for the winter. Some prophets declare that it will be a most severe one. On Friday last over 130 cases of cheese were sent away from the local factory. Prices obtained for the last , ; sold at Home was 66s per On Wednesday morning last, while **' Mr Cave, of Newman., was driving through Nireaha his horee swerved on to the side of the road, aad the conveyance was upset. Fortunately Mr Cave, who was thrown out of the vehicle, was uninjured. The vehicle was badly damaged. . I -*', On Thursday Mr Joseph Dawson, member of the Wellington Land Board, and Mr Sutherland, Crown Lands Ranger, inspected the Nireaha Reserves with a view to fixing the value of them. On Friday they journeyed to Hukanui and inspected the reserve there. The young man Foreman who narxowly escaped beinjr k.lled at the Newman crossing whilst in charge of Messrs Gardiner and Sons'timber •Waggons, was sent home from the Fahiatua Hospital on Saturday. He is ~ progressing favourably towards recovery. The contractors are making good progress with the metalling of the Newman-Stirling Road. Last week the first shooting competition for a trophy presented bv Mr H. Griffiths, was fired. The following scores were registered:—
