STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Palmerston North stock sale:—We had an entry of 3,500 sheep and 200 head of cattle. There was a first-class demand for stock of all descriptions. The following is a list of prices realised: — Sheep: Medium fat lambs (just shorn) 10s 9d, small ewe lambs 7s 6d, rape lambs 9s 6d to 10s, 2-tooth wethers (small) 13s 5d to 13s Gd, 4-vcar-old breeding ewes 15s 3d to 16s Id, full mouth ewes 10s 10a, 12s 9d, 13s and 13s Id, cull ewes ss, 4tooth Romney rams Sgr.s to 3igns, 2tooth Lincoln rams SAgns to 4-lgns, 2-tooth Southdown rams Hgn, Shropshire rams Ugn. Cattle: 18month steers £2 15s 6d, -2-year-old steers £3 7s, 3£ and 4-year -old steers £3 7s, 3£ and 4-year-old bullocks £6. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale, yesterday, when fully 7,000 sheep were yarded. Bidding throughout was brisk, only two small lines failing to sell. The quality, on the whole, was really good. We quote: 2 tooth ewes 15s to 16s lOd, good s.m. ewes 14s 6d to I(>3 sd, culls Sa, wethers 13s Gd to 14s 7d, good lambs 10s 3d, others 5s 6d to Bs. Lincoln rams, aged 2Jgns, others Ggns; Romney ram 2Jgns. Cattle — We had a small yarding-, bidding being dull. We quote: 2-year steers £3, 18-months steers £2 ss. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Ltd., report as follows on their fortnightly stock sale at Eketahuna yesterday:— We submitted a good catalogue of sheep, all classes being fairly well represented. All useful sorts found a ready market, but the aged and broken-down classes were difficult to quit. Taken as a whole, the tone of the sale was good. A few lines of cattle came forward. Fresh conditioned steers and forward cows and heifers sold readily, as did any good colored young cattle, aged cows and bad colored steers being- passed out. Fat ewes made 14s 6d, forward'ewes lis lOd to 12s lOd, best breeding ewes 14s lOd, 2-tooth ewes 15s, medium ewes lis 6d, 10s 6d, 9s, and down to 7s 6d for culled sorts. In wethers only small sorts offered, these making 12s 6d to 13s. No really good lambs were penned, second-class making 9s to 9a 9d, others 7s 6d to 8s 6d, culls 4s, Romney rams up to 2gns, 3-year steers 80s, 2 and 2 J years GOs to 655, 18-months 40s, yearlings 30s, fresh conditioned cows 50s.
