ST. PATRICK'S DAY SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
CONCERT AND DANCE. The concert given by the St. Patrick's Day Sports Association in the Town Hall, last evening, was a, decided success. There was a very large attendance, and the programme submitted was an enjoyable one. . Every item was warmly applauded, .jfi and in most instances encores were demanded. The programme was 1 opened with a pianoforte solo, "Irish Airs," skilfully played by Miss M. Dupre. Mrs Wilkins, who is the possessor of a fine voice, delighted the audience with her rendering of "Kate O'Shane," and in response to an encore she sang "The Link Divine." Miss F. Elkins gave a splendid rendering of the popular "Eileen Alannah," and was encored. Miss O'Malley was encored for her singing of "Good-bye, Mavourneen." "Off to Philadelphia"was given by Mr W. Iggulden in his usual capablestyle, and the singer was vociferously encored. Miss Ashton was encored for her singing of "Queen of Angels." "The Battle Eve," was !Fnicely rendered by Messrs Ogier and Haughey. Mr Harry Hall "brought : the house down" with his numerous character songs. He sang "Johnny Doolan's Cat," "I Want You to Notice My Leggings, "and "Rob Roy Tarn O'Shanter O'Brien," the last of which was perhaps the best. Mr Hall also gave a very effective reci»|P~*i tation, entitled, "The Old Actor's Story," and he received an encore. The programme was completed by Mr T. Pickett dancing the Highland Fling and Mr R. Mcßae the Irish jig. The accompaniments were played by Mis 3 M. Dupre, Miss Welch, and Mr Ballard. • After the concert a dance was held in the Drill Halh There were over sixty-couples present. The floor of the hall had been specially prepared, and was in good order. Excellent music was provided by Mr Reihana Boyes' Orchestra. Messrs B. J. Dolan, A. Haughey and J. C. McKillop were the M's.C., A splendid supper wap provided by a committee, consisting of Mesdames Collier, Haughey, Pickett, McCracken, O'Dowd and Miss Donovan. Extras were played by Mrs Crawford, Miss O'JVlalley, and Mr Ballard. The general arrangements for the concert and dance were ably carried out by the Association's siecretary,. Mr C. A. Tabuteau, who was • assisted- energetic committee.
