TURF NOTES. (By Zetland: Dulcinea is now being trained by her owner. The Bonnie Scotland mare and Gawain are beingljworked on the Opaki tracks. The .latter is looking very well at present, and will soon be ready to shqw -to advantage with the colours up. Tiwha has joined W. Garrett's team, and is being worked with Lady Melba and Sandix. The latter is none the worse for his trip to „Wanganui, and is again doing good work on the tracks. The first of the visiting horses to put in appearance at Opaki, in view of the approaching meeting, are Eclipse and St; Killian. The latter,, which scored at Dannevirke last week, is very forward in condition, and may be hard Jo beat in the sprint events next week. ! Two 'of the juveniles recently bropght down from Hawke's Bay by M. McGrath have already joined the ranks of track workers. They are the Renown and San Fran geldings. The first-named gallops in a manner that should be satisfactory to his mentor, and the latter is shaping well for a beginner. At the Opaki course, yesterday morning, serviceable work was executed by a number of horses, most of which are engaged ,■ at the Masterton Club's meeting next week. Te ICainui and the Bonnie Scotland gelding ran over, a mile on the plough together, the first-napied showing to best advantage at the finish. Royal i Blu6 brushed home fast after" pnce i round. The Merrie England gelding is very well just now. Merrie Rose i and Platypus did slow. work. Eclipse went once round ■ at threequarter pace, and Dulcinea was trotted twice i round. Riflemaid, who appears to be none the worse for competing in the two long distance events at Wanganui, cantered a mile, and Mahuta and Hatley were allotted' light tasks. Sherlock Holmes covered a mile at a good working pace, and the Renown and 'San Fran colts were cantered. ' Sandix and Tiwha did half-pace gallops, and Lady 'Melba ran a mile at nearly, top. The nominations received for the Wairarapa Racing Club's Easter Meeting are again satisfactory. A fair number of outside horses have been entei*ed, and these include good performers like. Ballarat, Grand ,Slam, Regulation, and Noteorini. • Full Rate was purchased at one of the-. Hon; J. D. Ormond's clearing sales, at Palmerston North, for j 21gns; ,He has won six races this sea'son, and, apart from his present i saleable value, has proved a most remunerative purchase to his owner. < Pink 'Un, one of the best sprinters i ill the colony, has changed hands at £1,400, and is now one of Price and Nettlefold's Riccarton ■ team. The Strowan colt will probably be raced i in Australia shortly, and, if fairly i treated by the handicappers, should ' show to advantaged Signalman has been purchased by Mr L. de Peliche to do stutl duty at Mr S. H. Gollan's station, Hawke's Bay. ' The son'of Clanranald isv one of the best-looking horses in the colony, • and, being 'highly bred, should prove a profitable purchase.
