MEAT FOR THE PHILIPPINES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 13. A letter, received to-day by Mr T. E. Donne, Secretary of the Department of Industries and (Commerce; gives the following particulars regard ing tenders now being invited for the supply of meat for the Philippines. - Tenders are wanted for the furnishing and delivering of 6,600,000 pounds of frozen, fresh beef, arid . . 200,000 pounds 1 of frozen fresh mutton'to the Subsistence Department at r Manila during the year ending June * 30th, 1908. Accepted beef and mutton will be admitted free of Customs duties, the Government reserving the right to decrease the amount called for by hot more than 40 per cent, upon giving reasonable notice to the contractor or to increase the amount with the consent of the contractor; each proposal must be accompanied by the bidder's guarantee »in the amount of 20,000 dollars, or by a certified cheque for that amount standing in Manilla. Tenders, , will . close at the office of, the Chief '' " Commissary, at Manilla, at; 11 aim., on April 10th.
