-SPEECH BY GENERAL BOTHA. Received March 32, 10.49 p.m. ' PRETORIA, March 12. , General Botha, speaking at a banquet at Pretoria, said that the Boers were sofdeeply grateful to King Edward, the British Government and the people for the generous granting Jfttof a free Constitution that the British would be absolutely safe in their hands, and they would be zealous for the honour of- the British 'flag General Botha declared that they would try and create a united South Africa, and try by all means to help the mines while resisting the attempts of powerful corporations to prevent the prospecting of the country. He did not intend to reduce the natives to a servile state, but would encourage them to become useful and contented workers. He intended to attend the Colonial Conference.
