FOOTBALL.

WALES DEFEATS IRELAND. Received March 11, 9.7 a.m. LONDON, March 10. Wales defeated Ireland by 29 points to nil. At the annual meeting of the Carterton Club, on Saturday evening, the following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr W. C.Buchanan; President, Mr Chas. Reid; Vice-Presi-dents, Messrs W. Howard Booth, G. W. Deller, Arthur Feast,Jas. Fraser, T. H. Hughes, H. McManaway, W. Strang and Wm. Toomath; Match and Management Committee-: Messrs E. McKenzie, R. Crawley, H. McKenzie and J. Nicholls, with power to add; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr " Jas. Nicholls; Auditors, Messrs Hall and Wallis; W.R.U. Delegates, Messrs C. Reid, E. McKenzie and J. Nicholls. The election of captain and vice-captain was held over till the first match of the season. It was decided to enter teams for the Senior and Junior Championship, and to endeavour to arrange a match with the Red Star Seniors before the championship matches commence. Delegates were instructed to bring before the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union the unsatisfactory manner in which meetings were called last season.
