Received March 11, 8.49 a.m. PARIS, March 10

Public indignation, combined with the threat of M. Clemenceau, the Premier, to light Paris with the aid of the military, overawed the strikers.
The city in darkness presented amazing scenes. Parisians enjoyed the fun until losses, inconveniences, and danger became acute. Many ingenious devices were indulged in to obtain light, steam engines, automobiles, and motors being utilised in the street to generate power. Candles sold like confetti at a carnival. The strikers caught the companies and public quite unprepared.
