DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. Received March 7, 11.16 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 6. A fire at Elsternwick destroyed the whole stock of cars (seventeen) of the St. Kilda and West Brighton Electric Tramway Company. As a result business on the line has been suspended till new cars are built. The cause of the fire is a mystery. The electric current was cut off at the time of the outbreak, the fire starting in the manager's office. The damage is roughly estimated at £15,000. PLAGUE.
