THE SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE.

Received March 8, 1.34 a.m. SYDNEY, March 7. A private cable was received in Sydney to-day announcing that Spreckels' Company had decided to w'ihdraw the steamers of the A. and A. Line from the San Francisco service. The General Manager of the Company, when seen, stated that there was absolutely no foundation for the report. All that is known here is that the Sierra* and Ventura will be laid up on returning to San Francisco, and thoroughly overhauled. This means a temporary break in the sei'vice.
