WELLINGTON} WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., report as follows regarding. Friday's sale: —We offered a quantity of wool, 2,500 skins, 430 hides, and a quantityfof tallow and horse-hair. Wool— Only bag wool was offered. Bales are being held for the fifth sale of the season, which will be held on March 15th. Prices remain firm. We quote: —Coarse crossbred in bags 9d to 9£d, rough and inferior 8d to 9d, pieces and bellies 6d to 6Jd, locks 3£d to 4&d. Skins—Market was strong. No quotable alteration. We quote: Merinos 7£d to B£d, fine crossbreds 9d to 10|d, coarse B£d to 9|d, dead skins \7d to Sd, dead hoggets 6|d to 7Jd, dry pelts 7d to 7|d, lamb skins 8d to 9£d, ,green lamb skins 3s 6d to 4s 2d, green pelts 3s <6d to 4s 3d, lamb i pelts Is 6d to 2s. Tallow—Parcels •in shipping order £26. Tins £l7 to £22. Rough fat £ls. Horsehair—ls to Is 3d. Horns— 13s to 16s 3d per 100. Hides—The hides sales are attracting considerable attention from outside buyers, several new operators appearing to-day. This is owing to the larger catalogues and the better class of hides offering. Prices were very firm. We quote: Ox hides, extra heavy, 6Jd to 7d; ox hides, 701bs and over, 6f d to 7d ; ox hides, 501bs to 701bs, 6Jd to 7|d; cow hides, s|d to 6Jd; calfskins, best, 6d to 8d; calfskins, slippy, 3d to 4d; calfskins, cut, 5d to ssd; cut and slippy hides, 5d to 6d; stag hides, 4d to sd; bull hides, 3£d to sd. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report:—Our catalogues consisted of bag lots of wool, very fair, lines of dry and green skins, and a. good lot of fine hides. Competition was as keen as usual, and all lots sold well. Prices were firm ablate rates for wool and skins, and hides, if anything, were in favour of sellers. We quote as follows: —Wool—Crossbred 9Jd to 9|d, lambs bid to Bsd, pieces 4|d, locks 4Jd to 4Jd. Skins Crossbred, woolly, 9£d to 9|d; shorts, 8d toß|d; 1 inferior and broken, 7Jd to 7fd; lambs, good, 9|;dto9|d; lambs, inferior, 7fd to 8d; pelts, dry, B£lbs, green, 4s Id each; green crossbreds, 3s 6d to 4s 2d; halfbreds, lOd. Hides—Medium, 521bs Jto 671bs, 6gd to Id per lb; light, 431bs to 531bs, 61d to 6|d per lb. Cows, medium, 40lbs to 451bs, 51d to 6£d; light, 331b • to 401bs, sfd to 6d; calf, 6|d to 61d. LONDON MARKETS. Messrs Daglety and Co., Ltd, Wellington have received jthe following cable from London, dated February 28th: Butter: The Copenhagen official quotation is higher by one kroner (about Is l£d) per cwt. The total imports'' of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the 23rd ultimo amounted to 104,000 cwt., as compared with 96,000 cwt. for the corresponding week of 1906. We believe prices have touched bottom for the present. Wool: The list of is closed. The new arrivals have amounted to 397,500 bales, of which 233,000 bales have been forwarded direct to manufacturers at Home and abroad, leaving 167,500 bales available for sale, including 3,000 bales carried forward from the January series. Tallow: Prices for all descriptions remain unchanged.
