MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. 2
The monthly meeting of the Stewards of the Masterton Eacing Club was held on Saturday afternoon. There were present—Messrs C. A. Pownall (chairman), D. McLachlan, W. Piatt, A. Reside, C. H. Smith, W. lorns, A. J. Welch, J. lorns, J. Cress, R. Buick, W. Cooper, W. D. Watson, and J. Macara. The Custodian of the course wrote asking for assistance in his duties during race week. It was decided to employ an extra man for the week preceding the races and during race week. The matter of procuring various articles for the trainers' quarters at the coui'se was left in the hands of the Secretary. The Secretary and Mr Crass were appointed a committee to arrange for a carrier to meet the trains at Opaki prior to the forthcoming races. It was decided to engage Mr Reihana Boyes'string band for the approaching races. The Secretaiy of the Wellington Racing Club forwarded an apprentice's license for J. McGrath, and a gentleman rider's license for Mr Dorsett. The Chairman and Secretary were empowered to interview Mr J. L. Murray with reference to the lease •of the meeting room in the Exchange Buildings. It was decided in future to reserve the Stewards' stand' entirely,for the ■use of the Stewards and visiting officials. Three new members were elected by ballot.
