ATLANTIC SERVICES.

ST. JOHN'S, March 1. Sir R. Bond, Premier of Newfoundland, proposed in the House of Assembly to conclude a contract with Mens Bros., of London and Paris, for a weekly 17-knot service from Killary Bay (Ireland) to Green Bay (Newfoundland), with a two-hour journey across Newfoundland, whence 20-knot steamers will run to the railhead of Gaspe-Quebec railway. It is also proposed as an alternative that a tunnel be made under the Strait of Belle Isle, linking with the proposed railway along the coast of Labrador; either way there will be a saving of 32 hours over other Atlantic routes.

The subsidy is fixsd at 75,000 dollars for 25 years. Other subsidies are expected from Canada, the United States and Britain.
