TE RANGITUMAU CLEARING SALE.
Messrs Abraham, and Williams, Ltd., report on the Te Rangitumau Hereford cattle sale held yesterday as follows: —The attendance was limited, but mainly composed 'of buyers, who were there for business, and a satisfactory sale resulted. • Bidding at auction at the commencement of th^, was inclined to drag, but livened up within half an hour and was fairly sustained throughout. Cows and calves averaged £ll ss, yearling and 2 year old heifers £7 4s, yearling"and 2 year old bulls 12£gns. " The calves were sold separately to the cows, but several of them were too young to wean, and consequently they made somewhat low values. The two year old bull "Convalescent" was pjrchased by Mr A. H. Nevins, of Tinui, at 41gns. The yearling bull "San Francisco" was purchased by Mr Saxsby, of Gisborne, at 12gns, while Mr A. J. Stone-Wigg secured Mr James Stuckey's yearling bull ''Cabin Boy," at 38igns. Mr Pitt, of Tasmania, purchased several lots, including the yearling heifer at 19gns and three 2 year old heifers at 15gns, 16gns and 18gns respectively, while Mr D. P. Buchanan paid 25gns for the two year old heifer "Te Hiwi Amethyst 69th," and 19gnsfor "Te Hiwi Princess 2nd." Messrs Short, Levett, Stone-Wigg, Wheeler and Toxward also purchased freely. Mr Short secured the cow "Princess Bth" at 21gns, and Mr Buchanan "Lady Graceful" at 20£gns.
