DRUIDS' LODGE.

The quarterly meeting of the 'Stonehengei Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held in the Foresters' Hall, last •evening. The A.D., Bro. J. P. Smith presided over a very large attendance of brothers, including visitors from various other lodges "throughout the. district, 1 and from Victoria. Two candidates were initiated and several proposed for membership. After the business of the Lodge had been transacted, a social evening was held to bid farewell to Bro. A. Nicol, who has been secretary of the Lodge for six years, and who will shortly leave Masterton for Martinborough. P.D.P. Bro. D. A. Pickering, in proposing the toast "Our Guest," paid a tribute to the energy and earnestness with which Bro. Nicol had carried out his duties, and stated that the success which of late years had attended the Lodge was due to Bro Nieol's efforts. The progress that had been made by the Lodge might be instanced by the fact that the membership of the Lodge had increased from 59 to 140 during his secretaryship. The chairman (Bro J. P. Smith), after referring eulogistically to Bro. Nieol's services, presented him, on behalf of the members of the Lodge, 'with a handsome silver tea and coffee service mounted on an oaken "tray. He wished Bro. Nicol every success in his futifre career. Bro. Nicol, in a neat speech, suitably acknowledged the gift. The other toasts honoured during the evening included the following:— "Tha Visitors," Bro. A. W. Russell —P.D.P. Bro. Martin; "Kindred Societies," Bro. C. Reid —Bros. C. Perry and A. W. Chapman; "Officers of the Lodge," Bro. Wallace—Bro. J. P. Smith; "The Press," Mr E. H. Waddingon; "The Ladies," Bro. J. Duggan—Bro. J. Miller. Songs were sung by Bros. Wallace, *T. Waterson, A. W. Russell, A. Nicol and E. McEwen. Bro. Gourley gave a recitation An enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
