THE FLAX INDUSTRY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 24. Replying to the protest against Mr C. Fulton, flax expert, being allowed to go to St. Helena, Mr McNab said the industry there would be only on a small scale. All the machinery would have to go from New Zealand, and it would take years to find out which is the most suitable root or seeds for the place. At present it was merely an experiment by the Imperial Government, and during the experimentation New Zealand would be developing and perfecting her own industry.
