EKETAHUNA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Saturday. The annual picnic of the Newman .School was held yesterday in splendid weather. Various games for the amusement of the children were promoted. In the evening a social and dance was held, and was well patronised. The catering for the picnic and social was in the hands of Messrs McGarry Bros , of Eketahuna, who are tp be complimented upon the excellent' luncheon and supper .provided. The Chamber of Commerce have secured from the Postal Department an extension of time for the use of the telephone. The local exchange will now be open for the convenience of subscribers from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. jg The Brick and Tile Company have a large number of orders in hand and are kept busy. The bricks made by the company are very highly spoken of. The weather here is still unsettled.
