AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
Mr J. Bradbury, of Masterton, who has been selected to represent the Wellington Province at the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association Championship Meeting at Christchurch, on Thursday and Saturday next, left for Christchurch yesterday. Bradbury will be competing in the Half-Mile, One Mile, and Three Mile Championships. He is on scratch in the Half-mile and One-mile Handicaps, conceding starts up to 85 yards in the Half-mile and 135 in the One-mile. The Mile Championship will be run on Thursday, and the Half-mile and Three-mile Championships on Saturday. The athletic contributor in the Timaru Post "says: "Now that the names of the three leading teams have been published, I think Canterburyjjhas a very good chance of winning the banner. Canterbury will not win many of the flat races, but will score heavily in the field events. The 100 yards seems to be well in Henderson's hands, but in the 200 yards I think Drake will beat him. The 440 yards will be the race of the meeting. Henderson, Drake,' Burk and Wilton will all run well, but I think Burk and Drake will finish first and second respectively. Burk should win the Half, with Ellis, Ord or Bradbury second. Burk will probably win the Mile, but Bradbury is running well, and Burk will have to show good form to win. The Three Miles.should be a good race, but if Burk does not start it wijl probably be won by Bradbury." '- :
