CRICKET
ENGLAND v. WAIRARAPA. The match between M.C.C. (England) and Wairarapa teams, which has created a considerable amount of interest in local cricket circles, will commence to-day on the Park Oval, and there should be a large attendance at the match. The visitors will arrive in Masterton by the mid-day train, and the match will commence at 2 p.m." Stumps will be drawn at 6 p.m. To-morrow play will commence at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been made to accommodate the visitors in Masterton, so that there will be no necessity for them to be driven to Carteron after each day's play. A number of residents have consented to accommodate the visitors while in Masterton. The team will lunch and dine on each day at the Central Hotel. The team that will represent England will be:—W. B. Burns, W. J., H. Cur wen, J. W. H. T. Douglas, R W. Fox, W. P. Harrison, B. R. Johnson, P. R. May, C. C. Page, A. T. Torrens, C. E. de Trafford, N. C. Tufnell. Neither G. T. Branston or G. H. Simpson-Hayward will accompany the team to Masterton. Mr E. Collinge will umpire for Wairarapa. The official scorers will be Rev. A. M. Johnson (England) and Mr B. Iveson (Wairarapa).
NEW SOUTH WALES v. REST OF AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Prees Association. Received Last Night, 10.42 o'clock. SYDNEY, February 18. In the match New South Wales v. the Rest of Australia, the latter in their first innings made 544 (Hill 92, Hazlett 52, O'Connor 50 not out). New South Wales in their second innings, have lotit five, wickets for 92 (Diamond] 26, Hopkins 40).
