Arthur Law, charged at the Wellington Supreme Court with having kept an office for betting purposes, was acquitted. A man, named W. C. Creamer, employed as head gardener for Mr John Duthie, at Lower Hutt, received fatal injuries, by getting entangled in some belting attached to an oil engine and used for pumping water, on Friday afternoon. When Creamer was discovered he was lying in an unconscious state on the floor of the engine-house. He never regained consciousness, and difed about 5 o'clock on Saturday morning.
