MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held last evening. There were presentMessrs R. Brown (chairman), E. H. Waddington, , G. Townsend, H. O'Leary, C. Perry, J. Carpenter, and W. Gillespie. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £24 5s lOd. The application of Mr A. B. Charters for leave to attend the forthcoming Government rifle shooting matches at Trentham, on February 28th, was granted. An application was received from a Mr J. Gilchrist, of ' Wellington, asking for permission to give a limelight entertainment at the school. Subject to the headmaster's approval, the application was granted. Accounts amounting to ,£2l 13s were passed for payment. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., asking him to enquire into the reason why the Education Board. were detaining £3O belonging to the Committee. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr T. Miller for donating tins of "Lixall" for destroying the weeds in the school garden plots. Messrs Perry, Townsend and Waddington were appointed visiting members for the month.
